While weaving at college one of my tutors mentioned that she had seen someone use a matchbox as a loom, so when I got home I wanted to see if it would work. My matchbox was 5cm in length so I left half a centimetre at each side and and then cut a notch every 0.5cm and then just wrapped the yarn around the same as when I did the cardboard loom. At first I tried weaving without a needle but it was too hard as it was such a small loom so I think it was a darning needle I used and this helped a lot. It took quite a while to do this and I think it was because it was such a small piece and it was just a little but fiddly. I didn't use any thick wool on this as I thought it wouldn't work as well and I wouldn't be able to get much on it, I think I used knitting machine wool/thread for this as it was thinner than anything else I had and I also liked the colours.
