2nd week ceramics

This week we made insects out of clay, i found this fairly hard and the more i tried to do different designs with the clay the quicker it dried up and cracked, this was difficult to work with and i think that this could have gone better, however i do think parts of this went well and i did the best i could.

Jewellery Workshop

these are some of the processes we did while in the jewellery workshop. the first and second one are called embossing and are done by either covering the whole piece in duct tape and then cutting out the parts you walk to be eroded by the acid or by covering certain parts with peel offs and then putting it in the acid, this will let the acid erode the parts around the stickers.

A to Z project

These are the four letters I was given for the A to Z project. They were K, I, O, and S.
I think my final pieces turned out well, however I do believe I could have spent more time on each one rather than rushing them all.

3D workshop-Woodwork

We made another model but this time we spent more time making sure every piece was sanded down and that  when parts were glued that you couldn't see the glue.

3D Workshop-Woodwork

In this class we had to create anything using different shapes and different wood pieces to create something that is similar to a building or architecture related. I started but using PVA glue and stuck a square piece of wood to the base, i used PVA because i only needed to stick it to the base and so it wouldn't need a stronger glue to hold it on, from there i sanded down other pieces of wood and then glues them to the base and each other, I used the drill to make a hole in the middle  of some of my wood so that i could put it on a piece of metal.

Health and safety-In the wood workshop rooms you have to keep your bags and coats away from the machines and tables because they could get caught up in the machines or they could be a tripping hazard. Also we had to take our lanyards off and put them in our bags because they could also get caught in the machines. Long hair had to be tied up as well.
When working at a machine you must always wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.

3D Workshop - Card

In the 3D workshop this week I made a building using different shapes cut out of card and then put it together to get a building. This time i used a really thick card to make a model, i started by cutting a triangle out of the card and then cut another shape which the side would match up the the triangle and then i caried on cutting ore shapes and putting them together, on some of them i didnt apply as much pressure when cutting it so that it would be still be attached but it would still bend sort of like a hinge. I found it easier working with the card as it was stronger than the paper and would stay in place batter.
When cutting I used a safety ruler to avoid cutting myself in case i slipped  while cutting.

3D Workshop-Paper

In this weeks workshop we started making 3D paper structures, we were given three sheets or normal paper which had some instructions on and some rectangles which had lines within it which we had to cut on some of the lines. We were given a craft knife to cut the lines out and we also had a safety ruler. For these paper sculptures we had to use a mountain fold where we had to fold the paper upwards, and a valley fold where we had to fold inwards.
The safety rulers were there to help prevent us cutting ourselves in case we slipped with the knife, we we also given mats so that when we were cutting we wouldn't cut into the table.
